The new President of the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa, Jacque Lethbridge, will deliver the keynote address. NZ Asian Lawyers is also pleased that the CEO of the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa, Joanna Simon will be attending. Jacque and Joanna are looking forward to meeting you all.
Jacque Lethbridge is the President of the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa, and a litigation partner at Martelli McKegg Lawyers in Auckland.
Jacque is the third consecutive woman to be President and the 32nd person to fill the role in the 152-year history of the Law Society.
Jacque started her career at the Waitangi Tribunal before moving into litigation; firstly, in criminal law with the Public Defence Service before transferring to civil litigation where she has been the first woman partner in two law firms.
Jacque has held various voluntary board positions and trusteeships across a range of areas including as Chair of the Auckland Committee Law Centre Board for eight years, co-founding Chair of Women in Restructuring and Insolvency and in 2021 was recognised by NZ Lawyer in both the 25 Most Influential Lawyers 2021 list and Elite Women Lawyers list 2021.
Joanna Simon is the Chief Executive Officer of the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa.
Joanna was appointed CEO of the Law Society to influence change within the legal profession and to create a modern, fit-for-the-future Law Society.
Joanna has over 20 years’ experience working in marketing and business for professional services organisations in New Zealand and the UK. More recently she has worked as NZ COO for global law firm DLA Piper.
Joanna is a director of the Board of Mercy Healthcare Auckland Limited.
