Superdiversity Institute Privacy Policy

1. PRIVACY POLICY

1.1. The Superdiversity Institute is committed to ensuring compliance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

1.2. This Privacy Policy applies to anyone who visits the Superdiversity Institute website or uses the Superdiversity Institute’s services.

1.3. From time to time, the Superdiversity Institute may change this Privacy Policy and will post the changes on its website. If you don’t agree with the changes to the Privacy Policy then you may not be able to fully use the Superdiversity Institute’s website and services.

2 WHAT THE SUPERDIVERSITY INSTITUTE COLLECTS

2.1. The Superdiversity Institute may collect your personal information, including:

a) Your name;

b) Your contact information, including email address; and

c) Other information relevant to surveys or interviews that you agree to participate in.

2.2. The Superdiversity Institute may collect personal information about anyone else that you give to the Superdiversity Institute.

3. HOW THE SUPERDIVERSITY INSTITUTE COLLECTS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

3.1. The Superdiversity Institute collects your personal information only when needed and for lawful purposes connected with performing its functions or activities. You authorise the collection of your personal information from the Superdiversity Institute when you:

a) use the Superdiversity Institute website on your computer, mobile, tablet or any other electronic device;

b) communicate with the Superdiversity Institute;

c) register for Superdiversity Institute events via the Eventbrite ticketing and registration platform (you can read Eventbrite’s Privacy Policy for more information);

d) participate in Superdiversity Institute surveys via the SurveyMonkey platform (you can read SurveyMonkey’s Privacy Policy for more information);

e) participate in Superdiversity Institute interviews; and

f) Use the Superdiversity Institute’s services.

4. HOW THE SUPERDIVERSITY INSTITUTE WILL USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

4.1. You authorise the Superdiversity Institute to use your personal information, and to disclose your personal information to third parties, for the following purposes:

a) To communicate with you, including to send promotional emails about new events, services, promotions or other information (you can opt out of receiving these emails by following the unsubscribe link);

b) To respond to your queries regarding the Superdiversity Institute website or services;

c) To provide you with a good user experience;

d) To keep you updated on things that are happening at the Superdiversity Institute (you can opt out of receiving these updates by following the unsubscribe link);

e) For internal record keeping purposes;

f) To the extent necessary to perform the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy and to allow for the operation of Superdiversity Institute’s business activities and functions;

g) For any other purposes you authorise; and

h) To comply with Superdiversity Institute’s legal obligations.

4.2. You agree that the Superdiversity Institute may share your personal information with third parties to fulfil business transactions for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy (for example providing customer services, sending marketing communications, and providing maintenance services).

4.3. The Superdiversity Institute does not use cookies.

5. HOW LONG THE SUPERDIVERSITY INSTITUTE HOLDS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

5.1. The Superdiversity Institute will hold your personal information for as long as your personal information is required for the purposes (as set out at 4.1) and for as long as is necessary to comply with its legal obligations.

6. STORAGE AND PROTECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

6.1. The Superdiversity Institute will use reasonable care to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, and loss.

7. REQUEST ACCESS TO OR CORRECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

7.1. You have the right to request a copy of the personal information the Superdiversity Institute holds about you. You also have the right to ask Superdiversity Institute to correct your information if you think it is wrong.

7.2. The Superdiversity Institute will process your request as soon as possible, and no later than 20 working days after it is received (unless that time period is extended).

7.3. If the Superdiversity Institute decides not to give you access to the personal information that you have requested, or not to correct your personal information, we will let you know the legal reasons for that decision.

7.4. If you are not happy with the legal reasons provided, then you have the right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner: www.privacy.org.nz/your-rights/how-to-complain/.

8. PRIVACY COMPLAINTS

8.1. If you think that your privacy rights have been breached, you can make a written complaint to the Superdiversity Institute at info@superdiversity.org or otherwise contact the Privacy Commissioner at https://www.privacy.org.nz/your-rights/making-a-complaint/complaintform/.
