Diverse Thinking Governance Summit 2018 – Justine Smyth, Chair of Spark New Zealand and other boards

Justine Smyth, Chair of Spark New Zealand, Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand, and Director of Auckland International Airport, is chairing the panel on ‘How Chairs and Directors can grow diverse thinking on boards’ at the Diverse Thinking Governance Summit on 19 November 2018 at Spark City, Auckland. She shared with us about why she has signed up to the Diverse Thinking Leadership Pledge

I am happy to lead the charge on the Diverse Thinking Pledge because I have seen the power that diverse thinking contributes to Board decisions .  I have also seen how easy it is to rush through an agenda without capturing the full benefit of diverse thinking of a group.  This pledge is both a reminder to us all and a commitment by us to take the time to be the best we can be in our decision making and governance responsibilities by both bringing and encouraging  diverse thinking capability at our Board tables.”
