Apply for ‘100 Diverse-Board Ready Chairs and Directors’

Our board tables don’t reflect our superdiverse demographic. We need to change that.

The team at the Superdiversity Institute are seeking nominations for our new initiative: 100 Diverse, Board-Ready Chairs and Directors. The inaugural list will identify chairs and directors across a range of diversity/intersectionality dimensions and highlight the value they can bring into the world of governance. This is a step towards ensuring that New Zealand board tables reflect our country’s superdiverse talent and perform better, especially with directors with high AQ (adaptability Quotient). The opportunities are huge in terms of building a profile and there is also an opportunity for boards to tap into this reservoir of talent.

Who should apply?
We’re seeking nominations from exceptional candidates who are able to contribute unique and different perspectives to board tables. Achieving diversity in board rooms goes beyond having a token woman or person of colour. Diversity includes diverse thinking, socio-economic status, diverse professional backgrounds as well as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical abilities, religious beliefs and an intersection of those characteristics.

If you bring a unique worldview and perspective that differ from the usual suspects around New Zealand’s board tables, we want to hear from you.

*Diversity includes diverse thinking, socio-economic status, diverse professional backgrounds as well as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical abilities, religious beliefs and an intersection of those characteristics.

Selection panel
The selection panel will include New Zealand Law Society President Tiana Epati, Chancellor of Auckland University of Technology Rob Campbell CNZM CFInstD and Director/CEO Venasio-Lorenzo Crawley. We’re also very privileged to be able to work with Anya Satyanand, CEO of Leadership NZ on this important mahi.

What to expect
We will profile all the winners on the Superdiversity Institute website and social media. There will also be a launch event later in the year to bring everyone together. All winners must be willing to train other diverse leaders to be board-ready and be prepared to mentor.

To apply, please complete the nomination form here. Nominations close on 31 August, 12 noon. Please contact info@superdiversity.org if you have any queries.
